Meet Amy Ferraro

Y4ED Community Member, Amy Ferraro

Meet our community member, Amy Ferraro. Amy tells us a bit about her story and how the Yoga for Eating Disorders Community has connected her with others who “get it,” which she says has made a difference in her recovery. We invite you to read Amy’s story and join our Facebook group if you could benefit from connection on your journey.

"I love being a member of Yoga for Eating Disorders. I have had an eating disorder for over 30 years. I kept it a secret from my husband for 20 out of 25 years of our marriage. I am in a bigger body, so I was constantly told to lose weight, unknowing I had an eating disorder.

Finally, about five years ago, I became disabled and had to have two brain surgeries. I am now unable to work. Once I was home all the time, I couldn't keep my eating disorder a secret anymore. I went to treatment and also formed a Facebook page and support group called Kick ED's Butt.

Becoming part of the Yoga for Eating Disorders group has been very important to me. I have my support group, but it is so important that I continue to receive support. I attend the Connection Calls most weeks. The vital part of that title is connection. When you have an eating disorder, connecting with individuals who understand what you are going through is so important. Some weeks, I may not share, but I still feel such a connection to these individuals by listening and knowing I am not alone.

I also want to mention the connection that Jennifer gives to each and every one of us in the group. She truly cares and understands what we are going through."

MANY THANKS TO AMY AND ALL OUR WONDERFUL MEMBERS!
