The Body Kindness Project Weekend Retreat

Body love and acceptance may seem like an unattainable concept. Body kindness is all about starting small. From kindness, comes acceptance. 

Join me and Kanjana Hartshorne, LCSW, RYT500, for a retreat at the serene, scenic, and peaceful Himalayan Institute in the Poconos and begin your own personal body kindness project! With rolling hills, a lush shoreline, and magnificent sunrises and sunsets as our backdrop, this special weekend will include 

  • 5 sessions devoted to exploring body kindness and what that means to you
  • Yoga and meditation
  • Meaningful and supportive discussion
  • Journaling, art, and other creative activities
  • Hiking
  • Rest and relaxation
  • Additional amenitites offered at the Himalayan Institute

This series is appropriate for anyone who wants to explore how to be kind to their bodies. Whether you struggle with body image because of your past, weight, race, size, ability, aging, illness, or more, we invite you to join us. No yoga experience is necessary.

Themes we will explore include:

  • How do I relate to my body?
  • How do I talk to my body?
  • How did my body image develop?
  • How do my emotions affect my body image?
  • How does my body language and body image affect my emotions?
  • How can we use tools from yoga therapy to help us be kind our bodies?
  • What’s the difference between tolerance, acceptance, respect, love, and kindness?
  • How do we move forward with kindness?

Tuition Cost: $275
Pay in full or payment plans available. 

Room and Board
Starts at $190 for a shared room and includes: vegetarian meals through the weekend, optional yoga classes and meditation/prayer groups, complimentary Wi-Fi, unlimited hot beverages in the Tea Lounge, and access to the Himalayan Institute’s picturesque 400-acre campus offers breathtaking views, scenic trails, and peaceful spaces for reflection and contemplation.

Kanjana Rajaratnam Hartshorne
LCSW, RYT500, is a licensed psychtherapist, yoga teacher, and yoga therapist. In her private practice at the YogaLife Institute in Wayne she offers an evidence-based blend of traditional Western psychotherapy and the tools and lens of Eastern Comprehensive Yoga Therapy to address issues across the lifespan. She also teaches a weekly donation-based trauma-sensitive yoga class in West Chester, offers private yoga therapy support groups, and hosts Paint Your Own Yoga Mat and other yoga, art, & therapy workshops across the Mainline.
